“Wild is The Wind/The Drowned Girl” Music Video

Though Bowie himself said he learned a lot from live theater, he did not foresee himself engaging in more of it after The Elephant Man. Still, acting remained of keen interest to him. In 1982, he starred in a televised adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s Baal for the BBC. The year before, Bowie had returned to Hansa Studios to record the Baal EP (one of the few extended plays in his discography), which was comprised of songs from the play. David Mallet shot videos of Bowie performing “Wild is the Wind” (previously from Station to Station), and “Drowned Girl” from Baal. Each of them were also issued as singles. The videos are fairly understated, with Bowie sitting on a stool with a small backing band all playing in a dark room.
