“Underground” Music Video

Two of Bowie’s contributions to the Labyrinth soundtrack, “Underground” and “Magic Dance” were released as singles in 1986. “As the World Falls Down” was also intended as a single and music video, but its more delicate sound clashed with Bowie’s plans for the upcoming Never Let Me Down, and it wasn’t seen for years. The videos for “As the World Falls Down” and “Underground” both were Labyrinth themed, with characters from the film appearing in each. At the end of “Underground”, Bowie tears his outer shell off, revealing an animated black-and-white silhouette underneath. Bowie did not contribute much to “Underground”’s concept, and later admitted he wasn’t satisfied with the end result.
