Tin Machine

Critics and Bowie himself had been unsatisfied with Tonight, Never Let Me Down, and the Glass Spider Tour. He was looking for things to change. He wanted to be a member of a band again after 20 years of being the focal point in his endeavors. Tin Machine was that band, with Reeves Gabrels and the Sales brothers, Tony and Hunt. Bowie wished to be treated like any of the other band members, and refused to do promotional interviews unless the whole band was present. During their run from 1989 to 1992, the band produced two albums and embarked on two tours (Bowie’s own Sound + Vision Tour sat between them in 1990). Their third album never materialized, and they disbanded in 1992 for reasons not disclosed to the public.
