Space Oddity

Bowie re-recorded “Space Oddity” and it was issued as a single just days before the Apollo 11 launch. At long last, Bowie had broken through, with the single reaching into the UK’s top five. Around this time, Bowie was sporting a curly bouffant haircut. This minilander is based on the photo used for the single’s sleeve. The same year, Bowie released his next full length album, referred to as David Bowie or Space Oddity. Importantly, it was the first time he worked with Tony Visconti, a partnership that would produce a wealth of amazing records. Bowie’s “real” career started here.
