Jareth (First Appearance)

While The Man Who Fell To Earth may be the critics’ choice for Bowie’s best film, his most famous would more likely go to Labyrinth. In the 80s, Jim Henson’s company Henson Associates began branching out into dark fantasy films that were unrelated to their productions based around the Muppets. The Dark Crystal was the first in 1983, followed by Labyrinth in 1986. Labyrinth was a joint production created by Henson Associates, Inc. and Lucasfilm, with Jim Henson directing and George Lucas executive producing.

Bowie played the role of Jareth, the goblin king. Jareth’s costuming in the film was designed by Brian Froud, which was no small task considering their immense detail.
